    George W. Brungard, 81, of 11 Gravel Lane, Mill Hall, died Monday, Ma
    y 15, 2000 at Manor Care, Jersey Shore. He and his wife, the former Ju
    e Miller, observed their 58th wedding anniversary Dec. 29. He was ret
    ired from Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven and had operated an excavatin
    g business in the Rote area. He was an Army veteran of World War II, s
    erving in Europe. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the E
    uropean, African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five bronze stars
    . He was a member of Rote United Methodist Church. Born April 27, 1919
    , in Salona, he was a son of Clyde Abner and Cordie Barner Brungard. S
    urviving, besides his wife, are a son, Samuel of Rote and a granddaugh
    ter, Christie. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Wetzler’s, 32
    0 Main St., Mill Hall, with the Rev. Frank Hartzel, his pastor, offici
    ating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, #028. Friends may call a
    t the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

    George W. Brungard, 81, of Mill Hall
    George W. Brungard, 81, of Mill Hall died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Man
    orCare in Jersey Shore.
    Born April 17, 1919, in Salona, he was a son of the late Clyde Abner a
    d Cordie Barner Brungard. On Dec. 29, 1941, in Morgantown, W.Va., h
    e married June Miller, who survives at ManorCare.
    An Army veteran, he served during World War II with the SV Com-pany, 3
    20th Infantry. He was in the Battle of Normandy, Northern France, Th
    e Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He received the Good Conduc
    t Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the European African Middl
    e Eastern Campaign Medal with five Bronze Stars.
    He retired from Piper Aircraft Corp. of Lock Haven and also operated a
    excavating business in the Rote/Salona area.
    He was a member of the Rote United Methodist Church.
    He and his wife enjoyed bus tours and had visited every state except H
    awaii and Alaska.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Samuel of Rote; an
    d a granddaughter.
    Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funer
    al Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall.
    The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the R
    ev. Frank Hartzel, his pastor, officiating.
    Burial will be in Cedar Hill Ceme-tery, Mill Hall.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Rote United Methodist Church i
    care of the funeral home.
