Mildred Lydia Young, 93, longtime resident of South WIlliamsport passe
d away on
Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born September 28, 1921 at Nippenose Valley, Lycoming Co, she was the
daughter of the late Herbert William and Emma Jane (Barner) Young.
Mildred was a member of the Pine Street United Methodist Church at Wil
liamsport.
Mildred retired from the South Williamsport Area School District afte
twenty
years where she had been an elementary school library aide. She wa
s a member of
the order of the eastern star.
Mildred enjoyed needlework, decorating, flower gardening, landscaping,
architecture, and reading. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband
throughout the United States and abroad.
Mildred was the widow of the late Harry M. Young who preceded her in d
eath in
1999.
Mildred is survived by her two sons - H. Kent (Debra) Young, of South
Williamsport; and Kerry (Mary ) Young, of Duncansville, TX. She is als
o survived
by five grandchildren, H. Matthew (Becky) Young, of Fuquay Varina, NC
; Staci N.
(Doug) Thiel, of South Williamsport; Jason K. (Paula) Young, of South
Williamsport; James R. Young, of Huntsville, AL; and Kathryn E. Young
, of
Duncansville, TX. Also surviving are her three great grandchildren, Ab
igail L.
Young, Logan K. Young, and Kinley N. Thiel; all of South Williamsport
, PA.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
A memorial service will be held for Mildred L. Young on Tuesday, Janua
y 6, 2015
at 2:00 pm at the Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine Street
,
Williamsport. Her pastor, Rev. Karen W. Atanasoff will officiate.
The family will provide the flowers and respectfully suggests that con
tributions
in the memory of Mildred Lydia Young be made, if so desired, to the Pi
e Street
United Methodist Church, Williamsport, PA OR to a charity of the donor
s choice.
