    Lois E. Karstetter, 93, of Rauchtown Road, passed away Saturday, Decem
    ber 15, 2007, at Manor Care.

    She was born December 4, 1914, in Oval, the daughter of Guy and Myrtl
    e Epler Barner.

    Lois was married to the late Leslie Karstetter who passed in 1972.

    She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid S
    ociety.

    Lois enjoyed crocheting and quilting with the ladies at the church.

    She is survived by two sons, Robert (Shirley) of Rauchtown, Larry (Mar
    ie) of Loganton and a daughter, Nelda (David) Moore of Jersey Shore; f
    ive grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandc
    hildren; a sister, Margaret Reading of Jersey Shore; two brothers, Wil
    liam Barner of Williamsport and John Barner of Lock Haven and many nie
    ces and nephews.

    Lois was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a son Donald, a brot
    her Harry Barner and a sister Marie Eck.

    Services will be conducted privately by the Rearick-Carpenter Funera
    l Home, Ltd. “A Life Celebration Home” 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shor
    e.

    John R. Barner, 88, formerly of Fulmers Personal Care Home in Lock Hav
    en, died Friday, May 2, 2008, in the Gatehouse at Divine Providence Ho
    spital in Williamsport.

    Born May 3, 1919, in Limestone Twp, he was the son of Guy F. Barner an
    d the former Myrtle Epler. His wife, the former Jeanne E. Laubach, pre
    ceded John in death February 25, 2003; they were united in marriage Ap
    il 12, 1976. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel Co, after 40 years o
    f service. During WW II, John served in the United States Army with th
    e Company D 334th Engineers.

    Surviving are a stepdaughter, Mary L. Huling of Jersey Shore, 17 ste
    p grandchildren, several step great grandchildren and several step gre
    at great grandchildren, one brother, William Barner of Williamsport an
    d one sister, Margaret J. Reading of Jersey Shore.

    He was preceded in death by three stepdaughters, Marlene H. Reiber, Ja
    et M. Stroud, and Shirley P. Green, two sisters, Lois Karstetter an
    d Marie Eck and one brother, Harry Barner.

    Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Frede
    ick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends ma
    y call from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services in the funera
    l home. Burial will be in the Oval Cemetery. The Rev. Jeffrey Howell w
    ill officiate.

    John R. Barner, 88, formerly of Fulmers Personal Care Home in Lock Hav
    en, died Friday, May 2, 2008 in the Gatehouse Hospice at Divine Provid
    ence Hospital in Williamsport.

    Born May 3, 1919, in Limestone Twp, he was a son of Guy F. Barner an
    d the former Myrtle Epler.

    His wife, the former Jeanne E. Laubach, preceded him in death Feb. 25
    , 2003. They were united in marriage April 12, 1976.

    John was retired from Bethlehem Steel Co. after 40 years of service.

    During World War II, John served in the U.S. Army with the Company D 3
    34th Engineers.

    l as 17 stepgrandchildren, several step great grandchildren, and sever

    , at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

    She was the wife of Paul H. Reading who preceded her in death. Margare
    t was born May 20, 1921, in Oval, Pa., the daughter of the late Guy F
    . and Myrtle (Epler) Barner.

    Margaret was a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family and friend
    s and loved the simple things in life. She liked cooking and canning
    , photography, listening to the radio and the police scanner. Margare
    t was a self-sufficient woman, making her own soaps and shampoo; she w
    as a lifelong farmer and a hard worker who loved helping people.

    Surviving are her sons, Orie Reading (Sandra) and Charles âRickã Readi
    g (Vivian), all of Rauchtown; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandch
    ildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in deat
    h by two sisters, Lois Carstetter and Marie Eck; and three brothers, B
    ill, Harry and Jake Barner.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Margaret’s name to the ch
    arity of choice.

    Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

    He died Wednesday Dec. 8, 2010, at home while surrounded by his family
    .

    William was born in Oval on Dec. 30, 1921, a son of Guy and Myrtle Epl
    er Barner.

    Bill retired in 1983 after 40 years at the former Avco, now Lycoming
    . Bill was a World War II Army Veteran.

    His wife of 60 years, the former Lucy A. Caringi died July 28, 2006.

    He is survived by a daughter Connie L. Barner with whom he lived, a si
    ster Margaret Reading, of Jersey Shore and many nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his wife, two sisters Lois Karstetter and Marie Eck an
    d two brothers Harry and John "Jake" Barner preceded him in death.

    Burial was in Wildwood Cemetery, &029, AKA, "Mound Cemetery""Mount Car
    mel" with full military honors provided by the Korean War Veterans o
    f Lycoming County.

    They were married by the Rev. Gerald Hughes at St. Luke Catholic Churc
    h, Jersey Shore.

    Mrs. Willits, the former Joan M. Eck, is a native of Limestone Townshi
    p. She is the daughter of the late Reynolds H. and Marie Barner Eck. S
    he graduated from Jersey Shore Area High School in 1960. She is a home
    maker.

    Mr. Willits, a native of Jersey Shore, is the son of the late Ernest F
    . and Lois E. Myers Willits. He graduated from Jersey Shore High Schoo
    l in 1959 and retired from Alcan Cable in 2003.

    They are the parents of a daughter, Kathy Brown, Linden.

    In honor of their anniversary, a card shower is being planned.

    anet) Novak of Redmond, Washington; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grand
    children: siblings Mary (Tom) Dutton, Edward Eck of Jersey Shore, PA
    , and Joan (Ron) Willits of Linden, PA. Nancy will be missed by man
    y nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
