Visitation for Leola Elaine (Nirk) Barner, 78, will be Friday from 1
1 a.m. until the service begins at 1 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coe
ur d'Alene. Service <> also will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at th
e Freeze Church in Potlatch, Idaho, <> with burial at Freeze Cemetery.
Mrs. Barner, who was born in Potlatch, died Friday from esophageal ca
cer.
She graduated from Potlatch High School in 1944 and married Beuford <
> ``Bill'' Brandt in 1944. They divorced in 1967.
She married Melvin Barner in 1969, and they moved to Post Falls that y
ear.
Mrs. Barner fletched arrows for her brother at Nirk Archery in Potlatc
h and then out of her home in Post Falls.
She enjoyed bowling and was the secretary of her bowling league for 1
8 years. She also enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitch, and flower and veg
etable gardening.
Mrs. Barner spent weekends on the family floathouse on Lake Coeur d'Al
ene.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Melvin; two daughters, Shar
on Lienhard of Potlatch and Nancy Brandt of Clarkston; a son, Steven B
andt of Moscow, Idaho; two stepsons, Tony Barner of Wallace, Neb., an
d Toby Barner of Uniontown, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Tracy Stubblefiel
d of Coeur d'Alene; a brother, Ronald Nirk, and a sister, Norma Jean C
idebring, both of Potlatch; four grandchildren, eight stepgrandchild
en, six great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
